A lack of front-end protection guarantees downtime and expensive repairs. The stock HPI Baja 5B offers almost no frontal defense, with a bumper tucked too far into the chassis to stop real impacts. RPM fixes that problem with a purpose-built front bumper designed specifically for this beast.
We designed the RPM Baja 5B front bumper as a two-piece system with a skid plate and a removable bumper for race-day flexibility. Each component plays a critical role in strength and impact absorption. The RPM skid plate bolts to the chassis using four 5mm screws instead of two, spreading impact loads across more mounting points and dramatically reducing stress on the chassis.
Massive skid rails run the full length of the skid plate and form the backbone of the impact-absorption system. The skid plate extends forward and upward from the chassis, creating a large curved buffer zone that compresses during a hit. That controlled flex slows and absorbs impact energy before it can reach fragile chassis components. After the hit, RPM’s trademark nylon blend snaps the bumper right back into shape.
The bumper spans more than 6-1/2 inches wide to block poles, posts, and other narrow obstacles from slipping between the tires and skid plate. The result is a perfectly balanced design that delivers serious protection, extreme durability, and long-lasting performance for the hardest-hitting Baja bash sessions.
