Rocks, dirt and debris can wreak havoc on exposed shock shafts. Flying debris creates dents, dings and burrs that damage shock seals. Damaged seals leak oil and hurt suspension performance.
RPM Shock Shaft Guards help prevent that damage. They shield your shock shafts from flying debris and help extend their service life. Less shaft damage means fewer damaged seals, fewer shock rebuilds and more time enjoying your X-Maxx or XRT.
Smart Protection Without Added Friction
RPM Shock Shaft Guards use a simple but effective design. We replace the stock shock spring cups with upgraded versions that feature mounting holes for our thin, durable guards. Each guard extends upward to the base of the shock body, shielding the exposed shaft from incoming debris.
We leave the back and sides open for a reason. This design allows debris to escape instead of collecting inside the guard.
The front shield covers over 100° of frontal exposure! It helps protect against rocks thrown by your front tires or kicked up by the vehicle you’re chasing. Best of all, our guards provide zero-friction protection. They never touch the working parts of your shocks, so the shafts can move freely throughout their travel.
A Little Extra Spring Security
We didn’t stop at protecting your shock shafts. We also extended the tubular spring support on each spring cup by nearly 2 mm (5/64 in.). That extra length helps keep the spring seated on its perch when driving conditions get rough.
RPM Shock Shaft Guards are sold in pairs and serve as direct replacements for the stock shock spring cups. They’re a simple upgrade that helps protect your suspension and keep you driving longer.

Tech Notes: RPM Shock Shaft Guards fit stock Traxxas X-Maxx GTX shocks (Traxxas #7761, #7761A, #7761G & #7761R). Also fits XRT GTX shocks (#7861, #7861A, #7861G, #7861R & #7861T). They have not been tested nor guaranteed to fit any other shocks for either the X-Maxx or XRT. RPM Shock Shaft Guards replace Traxxas #7764 (spring cups only). Two packages will be needed to complete one vehicle.
